The butterfly has long enchanted artists and storytellers, embodying metamorphosis, ephemerality, and beauty. On Isabella, a kaleidoscope of them takes flight on a ground of taut, rosy striped silk, cocooned in a Chareausean frame of fine velvet.

Dignified in posture, its tall back and rounded arms impart a sense of nobility. The embroidered butterflies, drawn by Greene, are tattoo-like, suggesting—but never outright declaring—there’s a larger narrative at work. This limited run of 25 pieces marks Greene’s first experiments in adapting miniatures to full-scale editions.

Isabella follows the traditional armchair archetype but distinguishes herself with a high, arched back and semi-circular frame.
